Hi Everyone!
I went through an early menopause at 45.
I suffered terribly from brain fog, forgetfulness, hot flushes, sleepless nights, anxiety and irritability. It was also really difficult to communicate with my husband about all of this - these symptoms that I was getting were as much of a mystery to me as they were to him! It was difficult for him to be sympathetic towards me.
At the time I was training to be a Medicinal Herbalist and began doing research into these symptoms. I wanted to understand what was happening - and I wanted to be able to fix it myself, rather than taking HRT as I wanted a more natural way to manage the change in hormones that my body was experiencing.
Understanding my condition, thinking about the triggers and preparing myself for them really helped. Dressing appropriately, reducing my stress load and making some dietary changes were also really helpful.
It took some time to find the correct herbal combination, but I did it. I bought myself the things I needed, make them into a mixture and started taking it.
I took up long walks, yoga, meditation and brain puzzles to bring my brain back to where it was. I started learning a new language. I began challenging myself by joining a drama class to improve my confidence.
I got two single duvets for my double bed - so I could throw mine off when I was hot - and not disturb my husband.
And I'm glad to say that now I have no symptoms. I am fully recovered.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Heya
I am 40 and just experienced my first PMDD ever. And it was horrendous! How to best deal with PMDD???
This is my first visit to the Perimeno forum, and I have to say, it's a fantastic idea! I'm thrilled to see a dedicated space for discussing and supporting each other through perimenopause. Can't wait to dive into the conversations and connect with everyone here. Thanks Alex for bringing this community together.
